Our board of trustees are integral to the running of HLC Dartford and have all lived or worked in the borough.

Our Chair Person, Ann Allen MBE, is a well-respected parish, district and Kent County councillor of many years’ experience, and was the Chairperson of Kent County Council 2019-2020. She has an extensive network across the county, and her portfolio for Dartford is communities and wellbeing. She chairs the Corporate Parenting Panel, and is a trustee for several local charities, including Age UK and Dartford Alms houses Charity.

Our Vice-Chair, Lorraine Bathgate, was involved in the original Healthy Living Project established in the late 1990s, and churchwarden for the parish where it all started. Since retiring as a secondary school teacher, Lorraine is currently a teaching assistant in the Art Department of our local college, supporting students with special educational needs. She is a trustee of Temple Hill Community Development Trust, and has been part of the management team of Temple Hill Youth Club for over 20 years.

Steve Grimsey worked with HLCD for eight years managing “Don’t Sit Get Fit”, the family and schools intervention project to help reduce childhood obesity. He also served as a health trainer and adult weight management advisor, and worked extensively in schools and community settings.. He has an in depth knowledge of the concept, and organisational delivery of, our projects. Steve is now the Operations Manager for Bexley Mencap.

Rosie Neale resides in Dartford and is the Dartford Volunteer Coordinator and Special Needs Lead for HomeStart. She is the founder of “Little Buddies”, a parent support group for those with children with profound and complex needs, and is also a Parent Trustee of “Beams”, a charity supporting disabled children and their families

Trish Burleigh is also involved with HomeStart, and is impressed by the atmosphere and philosophy of HLCD. She is interested in the growing relationship between the two organisations, and their benefit to the town of Dartford. Trish has a wide experience of working with young people, both as a secondary school teacher and head teacher, and since retirement serves as a school governor and mentor for young offenders.
